Speaker

Definition: In a poem, the speaker is not always the person that is speaking or reading the poem. The speaker can be a first person point of view character, which is the poet. Or, it can be a character that is created in the poem.

Example:
The boy killed himself,
I want him back..

Speaker: is the narratour.
the one telling the story
.

Significance: Without a speaker, there would be no theme or action. Basically, there's nothing to talk about in the poem. The speaker is just like the character for the poem.
